Richard Cizik resigned from his post of vice president of governmental affairs for the National Association of Evangelicals after drawing criticism for comments during an NPR interview. In the Fresh Air interview, Cizik told host Terry Gross that he supports same-sex civil unions, but stopped short of saying he supports gay marriage. Cizik also caused controversy for his support of Barack Obama during the Democratic primaries. Cizik held the post for 28 years.
