A federal judge has decided to hear the case of atheist groups suing to stop the invocation at president-elect Barack Obama’s Jan. 20 inauguration. Attorney Michael Newdow, who has sued in the past to stop schoolchildren from being forced to use the phrase, “Under God,” in the Pledge of Allegiance and to take the phrase “In God We Trust,” off U.S. currency, is representing several atheist groups in the suit. A federal judge said on Monday that there was “good cause” to hear Newdow’s case. Attorney’s from the Alliance Defense Fund, who will represent the defendents (who include Rick Warren), said the suit was nothing more than, “another example of the repeated attempts of cultural cleansing efforts against Christianity that are happening in our nation.”
