A Korean scholar of ancient Hebrew believes that Jesus was a stonemason rather than a carpenter. Kwon Sung-dai, director of the Korean Institute for Israel Studies, bases his theory on the fact that Nazareth was fairly devoid of wood and trees, but rich in stone. Kwon also says that the Hebrew words for “carpenter” and “stonemason” were used fairly interchangeably. Kwon studied Hebrew in Israel for 18 years, and hopes to spread information about Israeli geography and history throughout Korea.
