Episcopal Priest Claims Two Faiths

An Episcopal priest in Seattle has been de-frocked after claiming both Islam and Christianity as her religions. Ann Holmes Redding says that her Muslim and Christian faiths do not contradict one another, and that she cannot denounce either. “Both religions say there’s only one God,” Redding said, “and that God is the same God. It’s very clear we are talking about the same God! So I haven’t shifted my allegiance.” The Rhode Island diocese where Redding was ordained declared her a “woman of utmost integrity,” but said they did not believe a person could simultaneously practice Christianity and Islam.
