Americans Barely Use Half of Their Paid Vacation Time

Apparently, Americans aren’t big vacationers. The job-finding website Glassdoor commissioned a Harris Poll that found that employees who actually receive paid vacation time as part of their compensation, used only 51% of it. And, even when they are “on vacation”, American workers aren’t really unplugged from the office. The poll found that 61% of employees still did work during their vacation. Glassdoor’s career and workplace expert Rusty Rueff said that ever-present technology is preventing workers from really taking time off. “Before technology allowed us to be connected 24/7, we were more likely to have actually ‘vacated’ our work for a couple of weeks a year, but now, it appears one full day away is a luxury.” Clark Griswold would be ashamed …
