
In an age in which people are weighing the actual value of a college degree, here’s something to keep in mind: tuition at public universities is skyrocketing. Last year, the average cost jumped by a record 8.3%. Meanwhile, the average state funding per student fell about 9%, which is the biggest drop that number has taken since 1980, when the State Higher Education Executive Officers first started collecting that data.
