Rick van Beek’s daughter, Maddy, suffers from Cerebral Palsy and can’t walk or talk. But she loves the outdoors, so van Beek has run more than 70 races while carrying her. “She is my heart and I am her legs,” van Beek said. “Though someday she might not physically be able to be there with me, she will always be in my heart, quietly cheering me on.”
