Single adults have gotten pretty good at figuring out who will or won’t be getting a second date.
At least, that’s according to a new study that surveyed 2,000 single Americans and found that the average respondent knew whether or not they wanted to see someone again by the 20-minute mark of their first date.
A majority of respondents shared it all boils down to conversation topics. The study found that 56 percent of Gen Z think it’s a red flag to bring up sex on a first date. Religion and exes were also revealed to be taboo topics for a first date, with about half the panel finding them to be a red flag (51 percent and 47 percent, respectively).
On the flip side, talking about the environment seems to be a giant green flag for Gen Z dates. Forty-four percent of those surveyed shared they had talked about environmental issues on a first date, and 74 percent shared they had decided to go on a second date with someone they considered to be environmentally conscious.
Of course, things like physical attraction are also a factor, with 44 percent of respondents saying that they were more likely to go on a second date with someone they found physically attractive. But for young generations, the study found that good manners (51 percent), a good personality (48 percent) and conversational skills (47 percent) were more important than looks.
