  1. I agree with what you all said during Eddie’s slice (gender in toy stores). However, I don’t see the harm in just sharing the view that there is a difference between men and women. It’s not about defending the faith or trying to convince secular culture of anything, just that while girls and boys can play with anything, pretending that male and female are and should be the same just makes no sense to me. From a faith perspective I do believe that God was very intentional in how he made us for each other. That does not confine women or men to any specific hobbies or professions, it just means that we have different strengths and weaknesses. I feel like saying that has become tabu and I don’t know why. And I don’t think Shauna’s boys are stereotypical, they’re just typical. I was a typical boy in some ways and in other ways I wasn’t. I don’t need culture to make a statement about my place and role in the world as a man.

    Maybe I’m going way too deep on this but I don’t think gender roles are a bad thing.
