The New Activist: The Picnic Project

Mark Thompson knows the power of good food and good conversation. As a gourmet chef, his culinary abilities bring people to his kitchens time and time again. Which is what led him to co-found The Picnic Project.

The Picnic Project is a weekly meal served at a church in Sanford, Florida. The meal features Mark’s incredible cuisine—for free. But this isn’t a “homeless feeding program.” The Picnic Project is for everyone.

We talk with Thompson about why he brings together those on the streets as well as those in homes for a culinary experience and good conversation with friends.

The New Activist is a joint production of The RELEVANT Podcast Network and International Justice Mission.
