Model, writer and TV show host Chrissy Teigen has just published an essay in Glamour where she opens up about her own battle with postpartum depression. It’s a surprisingly transparent and moving look at emotional and mental health.
She also speaks out about the power of recognizing personal struggles and being open with others about them:

I’m speaking up now because I want people to know it can happen to anybody and I don’t want people who have it to feel embarrassed or to feel alone. I also don’t want to pretend like I know everything about postpartum depression, because it can be different for everybody. But one thing I do know is that—for me—just merely being open about it helps.
She encourages other mothers struggling with postpartum depression to be open and seek the help they need, and most importantly, to not be ashamed and feel like they are alone.
