President Donald Trump will be the commencement speaker for Liberty University’s spring ceremonies on May 13, according to reports.

Liberty University’s president, Jerry Falwell Jr., has been a staunch Trump supporter throughout his campaign.

He was even considered for the role of Secretary of Education.

The president told CBN news, “Our children truly are the future and I look forward to celebrating the success of this graduating class as well as sharing lessons as they embark on their next chapter full of hope, faith, optimism, and a passion for life.

According to a press release from Liberty, Trump will be the first sitting president to speak at a commencement since President George H.W. Bush in 1990. Falwell called the opportunity a “tremendous honor and privilege.”

This May, Liberty students will have the honor of hearing from a man who has succeeded in business and in politics, defying conventional wisdom to become the 45th President of the United States as a champion of the average American citizen, including many who felt forgotten and neglected by the establishment.

Trump previously spoke at the university’s convocations in 2012 and 2016.
