The Islamic rebel group Boko Haram has abducted 20 women in a region of northern Nigeria, close to the location where they kidnapped more than 300 schoolgirls in April. Three men who attempted to help the women were also taken. Residents say that the Nigerian military—who claim to know where the abducted schoolgirls are being held—are doing little to prevent Boko Haram’s reign of terror in the region. In addition to the kidnappings, Boko Haram has led raids on mostly Christian villages, indiscriminately shooting civilians and burning homes and churches.
