America: Not Quite Average

A huge study on education across the globe was released today and, as expected, the United States isn’t number one. Actually, it’s coasting a little ways below average but, hey, it’s not last place. First place goes to Finland and Japan, whose education process has been the international benchmark for some time now. About every fifth Finn and Japanese are reading at high levels. In the meantime, the United States ranks 16th in literacy, and is well below average in terms of problem solving skills and math.
