Christian Hip-Hop VS Katy Perry: Our Worlds at War

Today in legal action no one saw coming, Christian emcees like Flame, Lecrae and others are taking on human cupcake Katy Perry in a lawsuit alleging Perry’s “Dark Horse” ripped off “Joyful Noise,” a song Flame released back in 2008 with Lecrae and John Reilly. Moreover, they’re saying their song has been “irreparably tarnished by its association with the witchcraft, paganism, black magic, and Illuminati imagery evoked by the same music in ‘Dark Horse’.” Yes, this lawsuit involves Christian rap, Katy Perry and the Illuminati, so there’s a little something for everyone here. The complaint states:

Defendants never sought or obtained permission from plaintiffs to use the ‘Joyful Noise’ song in creating, reproducing, recording, distributing, selling, or publicly performing defendants’ song. Plaintiffs never gave any of the defendants permission, consent, or a license to use ‘Joyful Noise’ for any purpose, including creation of a derivative work based on ‘Joyful Noise.’

“Joyful Noise” took home a 2008 Dove Award for best rap song. “Dark Horse” held the top spot on Billboard for three weeks in 2013. You can hear “Joyful Noise here and “Dark Horse” here, and one has to admit, Flame and co. have a case. Will the Illuminati be forced to get involved? Stay tuned …
