CNN Anchors Feel Disturbingly Bad for Steubenville Rapists

CNN anchor Candy Crowley has come under fire for her comments following the convictions of the two high school football players at the center of the Steubenville rape trial. After a judge announced the guilty verdicts for the two teenagers convicted of raping a 16-year-old while she was unconscious, Crowley and reporter Poppy Harlow discussed how tragic it was that the boys’ (who were “star football players, very good students”) “promising futures” were now jeopardized by a sex-offender status that “will haunt them for the rest of their lives.” The anchors also failed to even mention the damage done to the other teen involved in the case—the victim. The case has gripped the small town of Steubenville, Ohio, where the influence of the local high school football team initially delayed the proceedings.
