Drake Helps Apple Unveil New Streaming Service

Yesterday at their Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple tapped music star Drake to help unveil their new streaming service, Apple Music. The on-demand music provider will essentially combine with the iTunes store, to allow for downloads, reviews, custom playlists and recommendations to similar artists and songs. They’ll also have a 24-hour streaming radio station. Another new feature is a social network component called “Connect,” which allows artists to maintain their own custom profiles. But, for the most part, the essential functionality sounded a lot like Tidal and Spotify. Most significantly, unlike Spotify, after the first three months (which will be free), Apple Music will cost $9.99 a month.
