The world of EDM is finally getting the recognition it deserves. Every major genre has its own awards show—CMAs, the CMTs, Latin Grammys, BET Hip-Hop Awards, etc.—but EDM has been notably left out of this tradition. Fox is putting an end to that on April 23. In two months, the network will air the first-ever Electronic Music Awards honoring the best DJs and producers in the dance world, as well as the best international dance clubs, electronic music festivals and radio shows. Diplo and Skrillex are up for DJ of the Year (of course) and Album of the Year contenders include Alina Baraz & Galimatias for Urban Flora, Calvin Harris for Motion, Disclosure for Caracal, Galantis for Pharmacy and Jamie xx for In Colour.
