This Homeless Man Now Accepts All Major Credit Cards

We’ve all experienced that remorseful feeling of not being able to help a homeless person out because we didn’t have any cash on hand. After all, who carries cash anymore? Well, a homeless man in Detroit is getting with the times and is now accepting major credit cards through the popular finance and payment app, Square. The man, Abe Hagenston, has been homeless for seven years, but says it’s increasingly harder to find work. Abe says he’s willing to work but also wants people to understand the trials that many homeless people face.

He told a NBC news affiliate that “People don’t realize how tough it is to come from nothing when you don’t have any family or any friends.” Abe has a website that he updates from the public library that helps him, and other homeless people find work. “I’m trying to turn this situation into something that will not only help me, but help others,” he said. “I’d like to see America start granting homeless people a real shot.”
