ISIS Sympathizers Hacked U.S. Military Twitter and YouTube Accounts

Shortly after noon on Monday, hackers briefly took over the U.S. military’s Central Command Twitter and YouTube accounts. Before the accounts were suspended, the hackers—apparently part of a group calling themselves CyberCaliphate—had posted threats, videos and military documents. “American soldiers, we are coming, watch your back,” read one of the Tweets. The hackers also changed CentCom’s twitter profile pictures to an image that contained a man with his face covered and the words “i love you isis.” As The Washington Post points out, most of the military documents posted in the hack were nonclassified and publicly available, and experts said they doubted there had been a security breach beyond just the social media accounts.
