At Least 34 Were Killed in Terrorist Attacks in Brussels This Morning

According to Belgian TV reports, at least 34 people were killed and more than 170 others were injured in a series of three explosions that rocked major transportation hubs in Brussels this morning. Authorities are still helping victims, and the casualty counts could still rise. The bombs went off at rush hour, with two targeting the city’s large airport and one going off at a crowded subway station.

The terror alert was recently raised to the highest level in the country, but Belgium’s prime minister told reporters this morning that he had “no information” about who was responsible for the violence. In a statement, he said, “We were fearing terrorist attacks, and that has now happened,” calling the bombings “violent and cowardly.” He added, “We realize we face a tragic moment. We have to be calm and show solidarity.”

A manhunt is underway for the attackers.
