This weekend, Malala Yousafzai, her father and members of her non-profit organization assisted Syrian refugees crossing the border into Jordan, fleeing the violence in their own country. Many of them had traveled through the desert on foot, carrying everything they own with them. The young Nobel Peace Prize nominee rose to prominence after surviving an assassination attempt by the Taliban and has become an advocate for women’s education rights around the world.
