Meet The Onion’s New Buzzfeed Parody: Clickhole

Today, The Onion launched a brand-new sister site called Clickhole, which is a big, gooey spitwad aimed right between the eyes of Buzzfeed, Upworthy and other clickbait-type sites. It’s a smart move, as the traditional journalism The Onion has been satirizing for years has given way to the GIF and sensation-tinged headlines of the Internet, and a new site was needed to do for this phenomenon what The Onion has done for CNN. But a look through Clickhole’s terrific headlines (“You Won’t Believe How Cheap This Stock Video Of A Woman Sitting On A Swing Was” and “10 Hilarious Chairs That Think They’re People”) shows that The Onion is being far more subversive than simply trying to one-up Upworthy.
