Netflix Postpones the Release of Cosby Special After New Rape Allegations

Netflix has announced that they have “postponed” the release of a new stand-up comedy special from Bill Cosby after even more rape allegations have emerged. Bill Cosby 77 was scheduled to be released the day after Thanksgiving. In recent weeks, decades-old allegations of rape reemerged following comments made referencing them by comic Hannibal Buress. A Cosby-centered online meme focused on the allegations also emerged and an awkward interview with NPR aired in which Cosby went silent when asked about them.

After the NPR interview, Cosby’s publicist released a statement denying the “decade-old, discredited allegations.” Since then, two more women—including model Janice Dickinson—also said they were raped by Cosby when they were young. Though Cosby has never been convicted or charged with any sexual assault crimes, he has settled a lawsuit related to the accusations. NBC has said that at this point, they have no plans of canceling a new Cosby sitcom currently in development …
