A Neurologist May Decide Whether or Not to Keep Teen on Life Support

The horribly sad story of a California family fighting to keep their 13-year-old girl alive is only getting sadder, as physicians continue to rule that Jahi McMath is brain dead and will not recover. Jahi went in for a routine tonsillectomy on December 9 to help correct her sleep apnea, but the surgery took a sudden turn for the worse as she underwent massive bleeding and had to be put on a ventilator. A few days later, she was declared brain dead, and the only think standing between her and the removal of life support was a court order. Now, judges have called Paul Graham Fisher, the chief of child neurology at Stanford University School of Medicine, to rule on whether or not she stands any chance of recovery. A Facebook page and rally have been set up to raise awareness for Jahi, as her mother wants to keep her on life support in hope that God will work a miracle. “Despite what they say, she is alive. I can touch her, she is warm. She responds to my touch,” her mother wrote. “Given time I know (God) will spark her brain awake” …
