Scientists Build a Terrifying Internet Just for Robots

European scientists have built what they’re calling a “standardised knowledge base for robots,” which is basically just a cloud computing system that any robot can access at any time. Why scientists seem so bound and determined to equip robots for their own uprising is a mystery. It’s called Rapyuta, and the intended goal is for robots to, and we quote, “become more cognitive, and interact with humans in more subtle, ‘human’ ways.” Yeesh.

The given example is that laundry-doing robots could access the database to figure out what sort of clothing items are what, and how to fold and iron them differently, but don’t worry; robots will surely think of more interesting things to do with the Internet than laundry. Mohanarajah Gajamoham, the technical head of the project, said Rapyuta will be most useful to such robo-friends as self-driving cars and, of course, drones.
