Twitter’s Gracious Response to Olympic Star”s Awkward TV Interview

British track star Mo Farah became an international celebrity after winning two gold medals at the 2012 Olympics. His infectious personality and enthusiasm even went on to inspire an Internet meme. One of the few people not familiar with the Olympic star though, was a TV anchor in New Orleans. After Farah won the city’s recent Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon in a record-setting time, the Olympic champion participated in this awkward local news interview (video below) with the anchor who evidently had no idea who he was. The anchor’s questions included, “Now haven’t you run before? This isn’t your first?”

Shockingly, Farah fans took to Twitter—a medium typically known for its measured, thoughtful dialogue—and blasted local TV anchor LaTonya Norton. Farah though, kept it classy, tweeting “Just wanna say to everyone being nasty to LaTonya Norton please stop!! She made a mistake like we all do!! She didn’t mean anything by it!” …
