Woman Who Lost Her Leg in Boston Marathon Bombing Is Running the Race

A dancer who lost her leg two years ago in the Boston Marathon bombing is going to running the race this year. Adrianne Haslet-Davis is participating in the 26.2-mile race in April to raise money for Limbs for Life, a charity that provides prosthetic limbs those who need them. She has been hard at work training for the race, and can currently complete 10 miles. But, as she puts it, she is by no means a runner. “I’m not a runner. If I’m running, you should be, too, because something’s wrong,” she said. In fact, she was cheering runners on when the second bomb exploded and left her injured. This will be her first time actually participating in the race. She told the Associated Press:

“I knew it would be powerful if I were able to do that — not only for myself but for other amputees who are saying, ‘I can’t do this or that.'”
