As Hurricane Sandy churns over the Mid-Atlantic coast, government officials and disaster relief organizations alike are sending the same message to civilians in evacuation zones: Be smart, be safe and get out. World Vision is one of the disaster relief organizations poised to deliver aid when the storm hits. At their New York City and Washington, D.C. bases, workers are busily packing emergency kits and the organization has said children will be given priority in relief services. In this time of crisis, relief groups are encouraging monetary donations (as opposed to food and clothing donations) and hand-to-hand help to any and all neighbors in need.
