Random Ramblings

I have always struggled with the question:
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
I used to think I’d like the power of invisibility or telepathy, but those seem creepy and intrusive. I probably don’t want to see how people act when they’re unaware of my presence or know what people are thinking when they’re unaware of my listening.

After sitting in traffic on the 408 for two hours the other day though, I finally settled on teleportation. I wouldn’t have to deal with Florida drivers. I wouldn’t have to waste money on gas. I wouldn’t have to spend $300 for plane tickets, and I lack the virtue of patience anyway, so instantaneous teleportation would be a great alternative to modern transportation.

Scratch that. I enjoy driving too much. I don’t like sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic, but if I was sitting in the driver’s seat of a ’67 fastback, I wouldn’t mind. 🙂

Lately though, I want an old 70s Cadillac. This elderly man in my apartment complex drives a baby blue one. He walks with a cane and has a handicap hang tag. For the most part, the Cadillac just sits there idle, unless he drives it to the mailbox, which is several yards away from his building. I want that car. It’s such a waste of a decent vehicle. I bet the wheels are sinking into the concrete by now.

Anyway, sorry for rambling! I’m Morgan, one of the new editorial interns for Relevant. I’m a senior at UCF, and I’ve lived in Orlando for nearly 5 years, the longest I’ve ever been anywhere. It’s beginning to feel like home.

I’ve been at Relevant for three weeks so far, and it’s been amazing. I can’t even believe how much I’ve learned in such a short period of time. There’s so much in store for the last few issues of the year, and I feel extremely blessed for having been given this opportunity to be a part of it all.

I’m currently working on an article for the December issue (yep, that’s how serious we are), and upon doing some research on homemade gifts, I came across one that everyone can afford. You can’t go wrong with a jar of nothing. hehe

On the jar, it reads:
Did you say nothing? When you were asked what you wanted for Birthday, Anniversary, Graduation, or Christmas, don’t you remember saying NOTHING? Well, this time someone heard you, searched high and low, and found this perfect gift for you.

This is a brilliant gift for the person who’s difficult to shop for or who has everything anyway. It’s cheap too! It costs pretty much…
nothing.

Sooo… is anyone else as obsessed with Postsecret as I am? I visit the blog every Sunday to read new updates, and I have the entire book collection right now. I just found out that the new book, A Lifetime of Secrets, is due out October 9th!

I love this video too. The song is beautiful, and the secrets are serious.

Uhhhh….I just saw this Geico commercial for the first time 33 seconds ago. I think it’s positively amazing and scary in a Chucky-the-doll kinda way. But whatever happened to the Geico gecko? He was adorable. And he walked on two feet. And he had an accent.

Okay, thank you guys for reading. Hopefully, if time allows, I’ll post some more random blogs. I’ll leave you with one last picture… of Jesus and a monkey (various interpretations accepted):
