We’ve got the first teaser for Rian Johnson’s Knives Out follow-up, the laboriously titled Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. It looks every bit as fun as you’d hope for from a sequel to one of the funnest, most clever movies of the last few years. And that cast! You never know whether or not a movie will be good until you see it, but it’s hard not to have a good feeling about this one.
Netflix paid a reported $465 million for the Knives Out brand, and is clearly hoping that this will be their next big hit. That Stranger Things cast won’t stay kids forever, and Netflix needs a new monoculture-spawning franchise to spark a little life into the platform. Hopes that the Ryan Gosling action thriller The Gray Man would do the trick don’t seem to be panning out, but they might have a winner on their hands here.
