Adele is opening up to her fans about the reality of her mental health journey.
This weekend, the “Hello” singer shared at her Las Vegas that she went to therapy five times a day during her 2019 split with her ex-husband Simon Konecki. She recently restarted seeing her therapist after taking a break.
“I started having therapy again because I went a few years without. I needed to start,” she told the audience, per a video shared on Twitter. “Before, obviously, when I was going through my divorce, I was basically doing five therapy sessions a day.”

Adele said she had a strong desire to hold herself accountable for things she would say. She only goes to therapy on a weekly basis these days, but she said she’s still working through other issues in her life, including her fear of performing at large-scale events.
“Now I am [seeing my therapist] because I just want to make sure I’m topping myself up every week to make sure I can give you everything,” she said.
Adele isn’t the first celebrity to open up about her mental health this year. Selena Gomez released her documentary My Mind and Me, which dove into her battle with mental and physical health, and Jonah Hill dropped Stutz, an intimate documentary with his therapist. Celebrities having open conversations about mental health is helping destigmatize issues like anxiety and depression, as well as point people to the various treatments we can use to overcome them.
