Dolly Parton, entertainer, philanthropist and rumored angel on Earth, received a $100 million prize and the “Bezos Courage & Civility Award” from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Bezos announced the award on Friday along with his longtime partner, Lauren Sanchez. He shared the distinction recognizes leaders who “pursue solutions with courage and civility.”
“I think people who are in a position to help should put their money where their heart is. I will do my best to do good things with this money,” Parton said at the ceremony.
Parton has spent much of her life dedicated to philanthropy and helping those in need. From donating 100 million books (and counting) to children around the U.S. to helping fund the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine, Parton has proved time and time again that she is more than willing to put her money where her heart is. We don’t know a better woman!
