Banksy Mural on Side of Trailer Could Go for $400,000 at Auction

A big rig trailer featuring one of Banksy’s first well-known works could bring as much as $400,000 when it’s auctioned off this week in Paris. “Silent Majority” was painted back in 1998 in collaboration with an artist named Inkie for the Glastonbury Music Festival. The massive mural shows a military special ops team landing on a beach to set up sound equipment for a rave. At the time, Banksy paid the trailer owner (who still owns the work) $300 to use the side of his vehicle for the display. In an interview with Mashable, the truck’s owner said he plans on buy a home for his family with the money, and said owning the piece has been a surreal experience: “If I didn’t like it, I would have painted over it. Then when he finished it, it looked great. You walk out your truck in the morning, open the door and there’s 50 people taking photos” …
