As you may know from coverage here and elsewhere, the Transformers robot Bumblebee, a fan favorite of the very not-fan favorite Michael Bay movies, is seeing a non-Bay prequel movie this year. The movie, called Bumblebee, has a new trailer, and we have one question:
Why the heck does this movie look good?
Hailee Steinfeld, Academy Award nominee (remember?), is here. Michael Bay is not. John Cena is here. Shia LeBeouf is not. All the mindless mechanical violence is also gone, and in its place are definitely some explosions, but perhaps some more sensitive and meaningful explosions? Also, a coming-of-age story for woman and machine alike? What is this movie doing, trying to make us cry or something?
We have lots of questions, the least likely of which might be: Can we see this movie soon? Alas, no. Bumblebee comes out this Christmas.
