If you haven’t been watching Saturday Night Light lately, you’re missing something of an upswing for the show. While SNL is generally characterized as the show that “isn’t as good as it used to be” (a critique it’s been getting for decades), it is currently very good. But when they announced their new cast lineup last fall, eyebrows were raised at the lack of diversity, so much so that the powers-that-be had an impromptu scramble for a new member. And today, Sasheer Zamata—an improv comedian who cut her teeth as part of New York’s prestigious Upright Citizen’s Brigade—will be joining the cast when the show comes back on the 18th. She’s the first black female to be on the cast since Maya Rudolph left back in 2007. Congratulations, Ms. Zamata. Enjoy goofing around with famous people …
