Girl Scout cookie season is competitive and sometimes, Girl Scouts have to get creative with their marketing tactics. Enter Charity Joy and her dad, Seymore, from Atlanta. They made a remix of Childish Gambino’s “Redbone,” featuring lyrics like, “Samoas are coconut cookies with caramel. You wanna get them now cuz they’re gonna sell.” The video went viral with more than 2 million views on the original Facebook post.
Since Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) has been doing press for the newest season of Atlanta, it was fitting to make sure he’d seen the video—which he had. It was even more fitting to bring Charity Joy and Seymore out to meet Glover and give him one of her cookie order forms.
Her goal was to sell 113 more boxes and Glover ordered them all and helped her hand out Thin Mints to the audience.
