You may want to start backing up your hard drives because there could be some hackers among us. According to an AP investigative report, security researchers claim they found cyberattackers with open pathways into American power grids. The cyberattackers, who are reportedly Iranian, have access to passwords and power plant engineer drawings. Experts say these hackers could use this information to cut power in millions of homes across the country. Apparently, this sort of attack isn’t new to the government. The AP reports that in the last 10 years, at least a dozen incidences have occurred where foreign hackers gained access to the U.S. grid.
