M83 and Skrillex, two little electronic-y bands with small but devoted followings, have each been tapped to score bigtime upcoming movies. Skrillex is going to be working on the new James Franco and Vanessa Hudgens flick, Spring Breakers. And M83 is writing the music for the new Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) film, Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise as the world’s last man. So, obviously, lots of question marks in this one. Why is James Franco in a movie with Vanessa Hudgens? Who is Vanessa Hudgens? Why would Tom Cruise be the last man on earth, seeing as nobody’s sure he’s even from here? Tough questions but, based on the output of the two bands in question, we can be reasonably sure that the answers will have good soundtracks …
