Morning Consult recently polled thousands of Americans from diverse backgrounds on their opinions on film, TV, streaming and more specifically, their thoughts on dozens of directors.
For young adults (18 to 34), the overall favorite director went to *checks notes* Tim Burton?
At first, Burton may seem like an odd pick. His style is certainly distinct and definitely not everyone’s taste. But Burton has shaped many young Millennials and Gen Z’s cinematic journey.
He’s got plenty of iconic films on his roster, like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and the holiday classic A Nightmare Before Christmas. He’s also adapted Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland and most recently Netflix’s hit series Wednesday.
Steven Spielberg — who took the title of America’s Overall Fave and the favorite among Christians — follows closely behind for young adults, with Clint Eastwood, Jordan Peele and Quentin Tarantino rounding out the top five spots.
