Dark Light

Letitia Wright Set to Star in Chilling True-Life Story ‘The Silent Twins’

Letitia Wright is one of the most intriguing young talents in Hollywood and now she’s got a new vehicle lined up based on the haunting real-life story of June and Jennifer Gibbons. Wright will star in The Silent Twins alongside Tamara Lawrence in a movie produced by Anita Gou, who handled The Farewell.

In real life, the Gibbons twins spoke to each other in an entirely made-up language and would communicate with no one else at all. They spent their teen years writing plays as teachers any psychologists grew more concerned about their mental state; any attempt to separate the girls left them completely unresponsive and apparently catatonic. Eventually, the pair turned to crime and then their bond took a very dark turn. The story was chronicled by investigative journalist Marjorie Wallace in her 1986 book.

Since rocketing to fame, Wright has been outspoken about her faith in interviews with the press (even if those comments don’t always make it to print). When she accepted her BAFTA Award last year, she told fans that “I want to encourage you – anyone going through a hard time… God made you and you’re important. There might be some of you here who might be going through a hard time. I just want to encourage you and God loves you. Just let your light shine.”
