The year is 2085. Religious warfare has engulfed the globe. And now, world leaders have decided that instead of endless back-and-forth fights over which religion is true, they will hold a one-time, no-holds-barred martial arts tournament to determine which faith rules them all.
That’s the pitch behind Absolute Dominion, a new martial arts movie with a spiritual twist headed to Netflix. Patton Oswalt and Alex Winter will star in the movie, which is being written and directed by Lexi Alexander. Interesting? For sure. Irreverent? Likely. Sacrilegious? Possibly! But it also sounds like it could be a lot of fun, and there’s no doubt that religious warfare is a tragedy ripe for satire. No more details are available right now, but we’ll be keeping an eye on this one
The movie will also feature Alok Vaid-Menon (Random Acts of Flyness), Andy Allo (Chicago Fire), Désiré Mia, Jennifer Jajeh (Transparent), Juliana Joel (American Gigolo), Julie Ann Emery (Better Call Saul), June Carryl (Y: The Last Man), Junes Zahdi (Counterpart), Laith Ashley (Pose), Mario D’Leon (Power), Nora Armani (The Blacklist: Redemption), Oluniké Adeliyi (The Expanse), Reagan Gomez (Queen Sugar) and Shawn Mousavi (Echo 3), according to Deadline.
