Timothée Chalamet Will Do His Own Singing for the Upcoming Bob Dylan Biopic

It’s a bold move, we’ll give him that: Timothée Chalamet will be doing his own singing in the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, Going Electric.

When it comes to biopics about famous musicians, there’s always a bit of a balancing act involved. You want someone who can act, obviously, but you also want someone who can convincingly portray the artist’s musical abilities and mannerisms. Just ask Austin Butler.

While we all know Chalamet has got the acting chops (Little Women, anyone?), his musical skills have yet to be put to the test on the big screen. But, we know he has them. Who can forget his high school video (post-Interstellar fame, mind you) performing a self-written rap for his statistics class?

And who could forget his duet with Pete Davidson on SNL?

Of course, Dylan’s distinct voice is no easy sound to replicate, but it helps that he’s got James Mangold at the helm. Mangold is no stranger to biopics. He directed Walk the Line, the acclaimed Johnny Cash biopic, back in 2005. So he knows what he’s doing when it comes to bringing the lives of legendary musicians to the screen.

Let’s hope Chalamet knows what he’s doing trying to sing like Bob Dylan.
