Sorry braj, we’ve got some bad news for you. The highly anticipated Workaholics movie, based on the beloved comedy show, has been canceled by Paramount+.
After seven seasons on Comedy Central, the show that centered around the surreal, stunted adolescent antics of a trio of college friends – played by Adam Devine, Blake Anderson and Anders Holm – was set to make the jump to the big screen. But just five weeks before it was set to begin filming, Devine shared the news on Instagram, writing that “Paramount+ told us [we] don’t fit their new ‘global’ strategy.”
“We are deeply butt hurt about this decision because we were so excited to bring the weird one last time,” DeVine wrote on his Instagram. “I’m butt hurt that I don’t get to work with my best friends again. I’m butt hurt for the fans, and I’m butt hurt for our loyal crew, and other cast members who are now going to have to scramble to find new jobs.”
But the Workaholics team isn’t giving up without a fight. Devine, Anderson, Holm and their longtime off–screen collaborator Kyle Newacheck are pitching the project to other streamers, and will be discussing the movie and its fate on a new episode of their podcast, This Is Important, tomorrow.
