Super Bowl LVII was a big night for the Kansas City Chiefs, Rihanna and, it turns out, Jesus.
According to USA Today’s Ad Meter, two ads from He Gets Us ads had a solid night, with one of the ads even cracking the Top 10 fan favorites out of nearly 50 ads on the Fox broadcast.
The first ad, “Be Childlike,” showed acts of kindness from kids and ended with the tagline “Jesus didn’t want us to act like adults. He gets us. All of us.” It ranked at a solid No. 8.

Meanwhile, the second ad, “Love Your Enemies,” which depicted people bickering and fighting, ended with the words “Jesus loved the people we hate. He gets us. All of us.” and came in at No. 15.
He Gets Us is all about reintroducing people to the Jesus of the Bible and His unconditional love and forgiveness, according to Jason Vanderground, president of HAVEN, a creative agency leading the campaign.
“Ggetting back and focusing on Jesus — not on what we’re doing, not telling better stories about how Christianity is impacting the world, but telling the story of God’s design within Jesus, which is what the focus is always supposed to be on. Just refocusing on that, it’s such an appropriate solution for today,” Vanderground said.
Each He Gets Us Super Bowl ad had a link to a website with more info on the message. The first webpage talked about embracing childlike qualities and letting go of our pride, while the other bemoaned the division and hatred we see on social media and asked, “What if we loved our enemies the way Jesus loved his?”
Fans took to social media to share their support of the commercials.

Still, the campaign has brought out skeptics both in an out of the Church. Last week, He Gets Us addressed some of the backlash on their site, stating that their agenda is simply to “rediscover” the love story of Jesus.
“How can we rediscover the life and teachings of Jesus, the world’s most radical love activist? That is our agenda at He Gets Us: to move beyond the mess of our current cultural moment to a place where all of us are invited to rediscover the love story of Jesus. Christians, non-Christians, and everybody in between. All of us.”
