Chuck E. Cheese, every 90s kid’s ultimate birthday party spot, is inspiring an unexpected new TV competition show.
Fully grown adults will compete in pairs, playing outsized versions of games from the restaurant, including pinball, air hockey, alley roller and the human claw. The competitors with the most tickets will have the chance to exchange their tickets for prizes off a massive version of the iconic Chuck E. Cheese’s prize wall.
Think of it like Netflix’s Squid Game, but with less death and more animatronic animals.
The production company behind Top Chef and Nailed It!, Magical Elves, is developing the series.
“Chuck E. Cheese is the place where a kid can be a kid — but as grown adults, we still have dreams of ruling the arcade, taking on the iconic games we love,” Magical Elves co-CEOs Jo Sharon and Casey Kriley said in a statement. “We’re excited to celebrate these legendary arcade games plus the best of today, all with a super-sized twist.”
From Netflix’s Floor Is Lava to ABC’s Holey Moley, TBS’ Wipeout to Peacock’s Frogger, outlandish adult competition shows has become a thing in recent years. So with all these happening, can we please get someone to reboot Legends of the Hidden Temple next? 🙏
