Yes, the KFC-Inspired Lifetime Movie Starring Mario Lopez as a Hunky Colonel Sanders Is Real

Lifetime’s original movies have never required a whole lot of …anything. Not a lot of budget. Not a lot of talent. Not even a lot effort from anyone involved, seeing as almost everyone understands that these mostly exist as the limbo of channel surfing — a last resort if there’s nothing, and we do mean nothing, else on. But Lifetime’s newest original film does have at least one thing probably no other movie this year or any other will have: eleven secret herbs and spices.

Yes, A Recipe for Seduction is one part KFC ad campaign, one part steamy Lifetime Original movie, all absolute last creative scrapes of the quarantine brain. Oh, also, there’s some sort of Uber Eats promotion involved, so you can watching A Recipe for Seduction while eating your KFC chicken tenders without leaving the comfort and safety of your own home, duh.

Mario Lopez stars as a hunkier than usual Colonel Sanders and, like with most of Lifetime’s content, it’s a little hard to tell just how seriously you’re supposed to take any of it. The “mini-movie” is probably intended as some sort of spoof of the genre, but these are already such parodies of themselves that this thing is going to have to go very over the top to register as satire. But then again, it’s a KFC-inspired Lifetime Original starring Mario Lopez as Colonel Sanders! How much more over the top could it possibly get?

Are you going to watch it? What else do you really have going on? It’ll air this Sunday, December 13 at noon eastern.
