In an email to fans this morning, Sarah Koening informed Serial listeners that two more seasons of the wildly popular podcast are in the works—releasing this fall and next spring, respectively. As for the subjects of the new seasons, that still remains a mystery. Koening said though they are both different from the first season’s murder investigation, the new stories are, “no less interesting.” She wrote, “We are hard at work reporting not one, but two distinct new stories. This means we’re planning on a third season of Serial. And we hope it means we can reduce the amount of time between the end of Season Two and the beginning of Season Three. As it stands, we intend to launch Season Two this fall and Season Three next spring” …
