As the writers’ and actors’ strikes continue with no end in sight, several actors — Zooey Deschanel, Natasha Lyonne, Adam Scott, Bob Odenkirk, Jeremy Allen White and more — are collaborating on an online charity auction, with all proceeds going toward crew members whose healthcare benefits are currently at risk during the strike.
That’s right, you can hire Ben Wyatt himself to walk your (Los Angeles-based) dog, and you can even take photos and videos while you join him on the walk. If you’d prefer a nice dinner, why not enjoy one with “real-life besties” Bob Odenkirk and David Cross? Or perhaps you’d rather Zoom with some of your favorite actors, like the cast of New Girl, including Zooey Deschanel, Lamorne Morris, Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone and Zoe Lister-Jones.
There are dozens of options to choose from in addition to the ones above. Here’s a few more that might be worth cashing in on:
- Natasha Lyonne Will Help You Solve a Crossword Puzzle
- The Bear-Signed Apron Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach Ayo Edebiri + More
- The Cast of Bob’s Burgers Will Sing a Song Written Just for You
- DVDs Signed Director Rian Johnson Glass Onion Soundtrack Signed Nathan Johnson
- Watercolor Portrait of Your Dog by John Lithgow
- ‘Weird’ Hawaiian shirt signed by Daniel Radcliffe and Weird Al with DVD & CD
- Rosemarie Dewitt and Ron Livingston Offer Relationship Advice Squabble Over Zoom
The entertainment industry has been at a standstill since May when the writers’ union went on strike, with the actors’ union joining soon after both guilds were unable to agree on a new contract with the major streamers and studios.
As a result, thousands of members of both unions have been out of work. The Union Solidarity Coalition, which organized the charity auction, was founded by Hollywood writers/directors when the WGA’s strike began to help crew members who’ve lost their healthcare due to ongoing strikes. Proceeds from the Coalition’s auction will benefit these crew members.
The auctions are already open and will close on September 22.
