The California State Assembly has approved a new measure that would make it legal for doctors in the state to assist terminally ill patients in ending their own lives. It will now go to the state Senate where experts believe it will likely pass. Physician-assisted suicide remains high controversial, though it is legal in states including Washington, Oregon, Vermont and Montana. According to the rules proposed in the new The End of Life Option Act, two doctors must both say that a person has less than six months to live before the prescription for drugs to end their life will be given at their request.
